Moone-Tsai is a boutique Napa Valley producer built around long-standing relationships with some of the region’s most celebrated vineyard sites and a clear commitment to limited-production, site-driven wines. The portfolio draws fruit from elite areas including Howell Mountain, Pritchard Hill, Oakville, Coombsville, St Helena and Bald Mountain, with winemaking led by Philippe Melka. The house style balances Napa richness with precision and restraint, using meticulous vineyard selection, thoughtful French oak and minimal-intervention techniques to let each site speak clearly.
Tasting Note: Sourced from high-elevation vines on Bald Mountain, near Mount Veeder, the 2017 Moone-Tsai Napa Valley Chardonnay is a rich yet beautifully controlled expression of mountain-grown Chardonnay.
Aromas of star jasmine, ripe citrus and stone fruit lead into layers of lemon candy, grapefruit zest and tropical fruit, with subtle notes of toasted brioche, spice and crème brûlée from French oak ageing. The palate is medium to full-bodied, generous and layered, but lifted by fresh acidity that keeps the wine poised and energetic through a long, polished finish. It combines the richness of Napa Valley with enough mineral tension and restraint to give it real elegance and ageing potential.
