Founded in 1999 by acclaimed winemaker Jim Prosser, J.K. Carriere has become one of Oregon's most respected boutique wineries, producing small-lot Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that express the individuality of the Willamette Valley's finest vineyards. Rejecting formulaic winemaking, Prosser focuses on vineyard character above all else, sourcing fruit from exceptional sites across the Dundee Hills, Ribbon Ridge and Yamhill-Carlton AVAs. Native yeast fermentations, restrained oak influence and minimal intervention allow each wine to evolve naturally, resulting in elegant, textured wines of remarkable purity, balance and longevity. Produced in limited quantities and highly sought after by collectors, J.K. Carriere has earned a reputation as one of Oregon's finest artisan producers.
Tasting Note: Sourced exclusively from old Dijon-clone Chardonnay grown at the celebrated Temperance Hill Vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills, the 2015 Lucidité is a beautifully poised expression of cool-climate Oregon Chardonnay. Whole-cluster pressed, naturally fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured for twelve months in predominantly older French oak, it combines purity with remarkable texture. Aromas of Meyer lemon, lime blossom and orchard apple are layered with honeycomb, white flowers and toasted hazelnut. The palate is vibrant and finely structured, revealing flavours of citrus curd, crisp pear and subtle brioche, underpinned by bright, linear acidity and a pronounced mineral backbone. A long, saline finish with delicate notes of crushed stone and lemon zest leaves a lasting impression of elegance and precision. Drinking beautifully now, it will continue to reward careful cellaring for several more years.
