Founded by Hugh and Jane Faulkner after they fell in love with a neglected Provençal estate in 1989, Faulkner Wine has transformed Domaine du Grand Cros into one of the region's most respected family-owned wineries. Situated in the foothills of the Massif des Maures, the 24-hectare estate is surrounded by pine forests, olive groves and classic Provençal garrigue, providing an ideal environment for producing elegant, terroir-driven wines. Today, second-generation winemaker Julian Faulkner continues the family's pursuit of excellence, combining meticulous vineyard management, sustainable practices and modern winemaking techniques to craft wines that capture the freshness, purity and Mediterranean character of Provence. The estate has earned widespread recognition from leading critics and international wine competitions, while remaining committed to producing authentic wines of exceptional quality and value.
Tasting Note: The 2024 L'Essence de Provence Rosé is a beautifully expressive Côtes de Provence, opening with aromas of pink grapefruit, white peach and ripe citrus, complemented by wild strawberry, redcurrant and delicate Provençal herbs. The palate is silky yet vibrant, combining crisp acidity with layers of juicy orchard fruit and subtle red berries. A gentle mineral thread adds freshness and precision, leading to a long, clean finish with hints of citrus zest and fennel. Elegant, refreshing and unmistakably Provençal, it is equally at home as an aperitif or alongside grilled seafood, summer salads and Mediterranean cuisine.
