Widely regarded as the pioneer of India's premium wine industry, Grover Zampa Vineyards has been producing internationally acclaimed wines since 1988. Founded through a landmark collaboration between Indian entrepreneur Kanwal Grover and celebrated Bordeaux winemaker Michel Rolland, the estate combines French winemaking expertise with the unique terroirs of the Nashik Hills in Maharashtra and the Nandi Hills in Karnataka. Warm days, cool nights and carefully managed vineyards allow classic European grape varieties to flourish, producing wines of remarkable freshness, balance and elegance.
Today, Grover Zampa is recognised as one of India's leading fine wine producers, crafting award-winning Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Chenin Blanc, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux-inspired blends. Every bottle reflects a commitment to sustainable viticulture, meticulous vineyard management and modern winemaking techniques, showcasing the extraordinary potential of Indian wine on the world stage.
Tasting Note: Grover Zampa's flagship Insignia is one of India's most celebrated fine wines, crafted from low-yielding Shiraz grown in the elevated Nandi Hills. The warm days and cool nights of this unique terroir produce fruit of exceptional concentration and freshness. The 2015 vintage opens with an expressive bouquet of ripe blackberry, black plum and blueberry, complemented by cracked black pepper, violets and hints of Indian spice. Twelve months in French oak bring layers of cedar, vanilla, dark chocolate and roasted coffee, while the palate is rich, silky and beautifully structured. Fine-grained tannins frame concentrated dark fruit, savoury herbs and liquorice, leading to a long, elegant finish with notes of graphite, spice and smoky oak. Powerful yet refined, this is a benchmark New World Shiraz that demonstrates the remarkable potential of premium Indian wine. Richard Hemming MW praised the 2015 for being "less smoky and confected" than earlier releases, highlighting its improved balance and elegance.
