Nestled beneath the dramatic Dentelles de Montmirail, Domaine Brusset is one of Gigondas' benchmark family estates. Established in 1947 and now under the stewardship of the third generation, the domaine farms around 70 hectares across some of the Southern Rhône's finest appellations, including Gigondas, Cairanne, Rasteau and Côtes du Rhône. The steep, terraced vineyards of Gigondas are planted predominantly to old-vine Grenache, supported by Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault, where poor, stony soils and meticulous hand harvesting produce wines of remarkable concentration and finesse. Combining traditional Rhône winemaking with sustainable viticulture and restrained oak ageing, Domaine Brusset has earned a reputation for elegant, terroir-driven wines that consistently rank among the leading producers of Gigondas.
Tasting Note: The outstanding 2015 vintage brings both power and elegance to this classic Gigondas. A blend led by Grenache with Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault, it opens with expressive aromas of ripe black cherry, wild blackberry and raspberry compote, layered with liquorice, Provençal herbs, cracked black pepper and hints of cocoa and cedar. The palate is rich and concentrated yet beautifully balanced, with silky tannins supporting generous dark fruit, savoury spice and the distinctive mineral character of the Dentelles de Montmirail's rocky terraces. Notes of dark chocolate, thyme and garrigue linger on a long, harmonious finish. Presented in magnum, the wine has matured gracefully, retaining freshness while developing additional complexity, making it an outstanding choice for sharing or further cellaring.
