Château Gigognan is one of the Southern Rhône's great historic estates, where more than eight centuries of winemaking heritage meet an uncompromising pursuit of quality. Set across 110 hectares of certified organic vineyards, including over 40 hectares in the renowned Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, the estate produces wines of exceptional purity, balance and longevity. Every vineyard parcel is farmed with meticulous care and vinified individually in a modern, environmentally designed winery, allowing each terroir to express its unique character. Whether crafting the celebrated Clos du Roi cuvées or their outstanding Côtes-du-Rhône wines, Château Gigognan consistently delivers wines of elegance, concentration and unmistakable Rhône identity, equally rewarding on release or after years of cellaring.
Tasting Note: A beautifully expressive old-vine Grenache, Cardinalice 2016 opens with layers of kirsch, black raspberry and ripe red fruit, lifted by florals, liquorice, garrigue and a subtle note of candied orange. The palate is rich and concentrated yet remarkably polished, with silky tannins, freshness and an appealing saline mineral character balancing the depth of fruit. Powerful without becoming heavy, it finishes long and plush with lingering spice, herbs and dark cherry fruit.
